ENCLOSURE (Haworth Moor, Yorkshire)

   The English Midlands are literally covered with concrete-free stone walls even on the steepest and highest hills.   According to many work historians (Alexandre Koyre among the others) exactly the XVII century enclosures,  having deprived the farmers of communal lands,  created a mass of dreadfully poor workers that,  relocating to towns,  played a part in the rise and abhorrence of the Industrial Revolution.

   Le Midlands inglesi sono letteralmente ricoperte da muri a secco in pietra fino sulle colline piu' elevate e scoscese.   Secondo molti storici del lavoro (fra tutti Alexandre Koyre) proprio le enclosures del XVII secolo,  privando i contadini delle terre comunali,  crearono una massa di lavoratori spaventosamente poveri che,  riversatisi nelle citta',  consentirono il decollo e le storture della rivoluzione industriale.
